I looked at a lot of Coleman sleeping bags when trying to find new ones for my wife and I. I finally decided on this bag because it met the temperature we wanted and I liked the idea of the scoop at the top. I’ve always been frustrated with traditional sleeping bags where you have your head out of the bag on the mattress/tent floor/ground/etc, so I thought this would fix this problem.

Unfortunately, when the bag arrived I found that to accommodate the scoop they took 14″ off the top of the bag. The bag itself is 78″ long to the top of the scoop. If you take out the 14″ area of the scoop, you are left with only a 64″ heigh cover. I’m 5’11″, and although the bags description says it would fit people to this size, when I climb inside my feet are jambed at the bottom if I try to get the bag to cover my shoulders. Even my wife, who’s about 5’6″, is touching the bottom when she’s inside in the way she likes to sleep.

I don’t see an extra long version of the bag or I’d buy it. I’ll probably return both so that we can go with a traditional bag that has more length to it.

Otherwise, the construction seems good and it seems as though it would be comfortable. The only other negative I saw is that it doesn’t come with a cover. It has a unique drawstring that goes around it that is nice, but since there is no cover it will get dirty easily.
